Clare Mitchell manages two programmes of activity at Arts Connect. They are;
1. Warwickshire Arts on Referral Programme – Clare coordinates two Arts on Referral Programmes across Warwickshire. The work has been commissioned by Warwickshire County Council. We are working closely with Public Health colleagues at the Council. The two programmes are:
• Children and young people (aged 7-17 years),
• Parents/Carers and Infants (aged 0-2 years), including anti-natal activity.
2. LCEP Management for Birmingham, Coventry & Warwickshire. – Clare manages the relationships with Local Cultural Education Partnerships helping the build and strengthen cultural educational offer as a key part of local placemaking agendas.
Clare is an arts education professional with over 25 years of experience working both a strategic management of arts development and direct delivery within the arts sector, youth programmes and schools in the West Midlands and South West. Clare has worked for a variety of organisations ranging from Warwick Arts Centre, Government Office and most recently as part of Coventry City Council as the Arts Partnership Manager on the development and delivery of a new cultural strategy for the city and the successful UK City of Culture 2021 bid.
Born and brought up in the Midlands, Clare moved to Bristol, paying her way through Art School (BA Hons Arts and Social context) by working as a youth worker and running events in Bristol’s lively arts and music scene, going on to train in informal and community education, securing JNC status.
Clare is passionate about creating opportunities where we access and engage in learning through creative and cultural practice, open up new ways of thinking and being and can really make a significant positive impact on the lives of the children young people and families I work with.
