Venue: The Performance Studio, mac, Birmingham
Time: 1.30pm – 2.15pm Networking and refreshments, 2.15pm to 4pm Presentation and discussions.
For: Members of the community of arts and cultural sector leaders in learning and participation in the West Midlands
Robert Hewison, Cultural historian, consultant and writer on the arts will be joining us to share his latest thinking on cultural value and his book Cultural Capital, the Rise and Fall of Creative Britain 2014.
The book is essential reading for anyone working in the cultural sector today, revealing the background to some of influencing factors behind the major changes in the sector and providing valuable factual information. Most inspiring of all, in the final chapter, Hewison builds the case for the importance of government investment in cultural endeavour and for providing high quality cultural education and engagement for children and young people.
Join us to explore the notion of cultural value and cultural capital, what that is and how it might help us think about leadership practice in the region.
This is a free event but booking is essential.
