This free online session for arts teachers and arts leads working in educational settings across the Black Country and West Midlands will introduce British Art Show 9 – now coming to Wolverhampton in January 2022.
British Art Show 9 is acknowledged as one of the most important recurrent touring exhibitions of contemporary art produced in this country and is unrivalled in its scope and national reach. Over 40 contemporary artists will be sharing their work through sculpture, painting, installation, drawing, photography, film, video and performance.
With a focus on British Art Show 9 we will look at how to use contemporary visual art to enhance young people’s critical thinking skills. Thinking about ways to support young people to interpret and analyse contemporary artworks and how to facilitate group discussions around contemporary and issue-based artworks.
Our online session will include:
- Introduction to British Art Show 9 – themes, curators and artists.
- How schools, teachers and young people can get involved with the British Art Show 9
- Tips on how to support young people to interpret and analyse contemporary artworks and how to facilitate group discussions around contemporary and issue-based artworks
- Local and regional arts and cultural opportunities for teachers, schools and young people.
- Opportunities to meet creative educators, and cultural organisations including Wolverhampton Cultural Education Partnership, Wolverhampton Art Gallery, University of Wolverhampton and Arts Connect
