The programme
Our early years programme – Moonbeams (for 0-5 years) aims to raise the profile of early years creativity, develop new sustainable practice by building the leadership skills of artists and educators, and through learning networks address issues of quality and access.
Our key focus is on the critical role of arts, culture and creativity in the development of language and communication in early years particularly for those young children with limited language skills or who are non-verbal.
Pedagogy
Moonbeams is influenced by the creative approach to child-led development linked to the educational philosophy of Reggio Emilia.
The programme is developed with organisations and individuals from the early years and arts and cultural sectors, such as Birmingham Nursery Schools Teaching School Alliance, the Centre for Research in Early Childhood (CREC), arts and cultural organisations including Music Education Hubs, individual educators and practitioners, academics, artists and pedagogues.
