Project Brief: Who am I? Exploring identity through Dance and Physical Theatre

We are looking for an artist/artists or an arts organisation to work with 5 schools (2 primary and 3 secondary) in the Telford & Wrekin area.

All the schools are part of the Community Academies Trust hub in Telford and the focus for the programme is high quality arts experiences through dance/movement and/or physical theatre cased on the theme of Who am I? leading towards a Celebration Event in February 2020. As well as delivering quality artistic outcomes for the students, the programme will develop confidence in participating class teachers, equipping them with basic skills to develop dance/movement and physical theatre activities.

Who am I? will explore identity in its widest sense – the individual and his/her voice, the school the community. We are particularly interested in artists/organisations with expertise in producing high quality work for children and young people through contemporary styles of movement-based performance, using physical theatre and dance/movement to articulate emotions. We are also interested in presenting positive role models for boys through this genre.

Timescale and details:
Application Deadline: 1 April 2019 (no later than 12.00 noon)
Notification of Interviews: no later than 10 April 2019
Artist selection day (interview and trial workshop with Young Arts Ambassadors): Friday 3 May 2019

Fee: Budget is up to a maximum £4,500 excluding vat. This is an inclusive fee.
