Arts Connect is looking to engage Artists to work across Warwickshire, in partnership with Barnados, on the new and innovative Arts on Referral programmes commissioned by Warwickshire County Council. The two programmes are:
1. Children and young people, aged 7-17 years, who are referred for mild to moderate mental health challenges, attend an arts course of 6 sessions (after school, weekends and/or holidays) to develop their interests in the arts and build their resilience, improve well-being through increased confidence and self-esteem, develop a sense of achievement, empowerment, social skills and positive behaviour changes.
2. Parents/Carers and Infants (0-2 years), including anti-natal activity. Parents/Carers will be referred as experiencing mild to moderate mental health challenges and then attend, along with their infants (0-2 years), an arts course of 6 sessions (during the day) to boost wellbeing, reduce the risk of poor parental mental health outcomes, improve longer-term outcomes for children through the development of secure attachment relationships within the ‘Critical 1001 Days’ (conception to age 2)
We are aiming to recruit a team of up to seven artists with art form expertise to include, but not limited to visual art (2D and 3D); music/singing; film/photography; movement/dance; spoken word/drama/poetry/storytelling
We also would like at least two of these artists to have experience of working with children 0-2 years and their parents and carers, and be familiar with the pedagogy and creative practice of working with babies and infants.
