Fantastic Opportunity for Artists aged Between 18-30
It’s the third and final year of Emerge and with our partners The Mighty Creatives (TMC) and UK Young Artists we are offering a unique opportunity to artists aged 18 – 30. ‘Emerge’ is a regional programme of one-day festivals led by young people in the heart of local communities. The festivals are directed by a commissioned young artist, in partnership with schools and community organisations. Over the past two years Emerge has delivered 24 children and young people-led arts festivals in 12 Midlands locations. These festivals celebrate the life and work of William Shakespeare, with an emphasis on language and storytelling using a range of different disciplines from performance to visual art.
The Emerge festivals happen simultaneously across the midlands over one day. The festivals are planned, programmed and promoted by young people, led by artists selected through an open call. This is the third and final year of the Emerge project (2018/19), and the festivals will take place in these geographic areas:
East Midlands – Ashfield, Boston, Mansfield and South Holland.
West Midlands – Cannock Chase, Dudley, Sandwell and Walsall.
Think you could lead a group of young people to deliver an exciting multidisciplinary festival? This is a fantastic developmental opportunity that will both enhance your practice and give you a diverse set of skills in leading, programming, planning and delivering an arts festival. You’ll also be able to build contacts with artists, venues and organisations across the project, and will be supported with training.
The artist fee will be £13,000 inc Vat and will be over approximately 100 days. In addition to this fee, funds will be available for delivery of the work – for materials, technical support etc.
To be eligible for this opportunity you must be aged 18 – 30 on the closing date for applications: Friday 9th March 2018 at 9.00am and you must have the legal right to work in the UK. If you are applying as a company at least 75% of your company members must satisfy our age requirement (18 – 30), and all members of the company working on the project must be able to work legally in the UK.
