Arts Connect are delighted to have been highly commended in the 2026’s NSEAD Awards. This commendation is in recognition of our visual art projects, programmes, CPD and research in Birmingham and the Black Country.

The NSEAD Awards formally recognise art educators who champion our subject, push boundaries and empower change within the sector.

The Judges were highly impressed by our submission and commented

“Arts Connect demonstrates truly inspiring practice through its work with contemporary exhibitions, artists, and cultural partners, helping to deepen teachers’ confidence and strengthen the teaching of contemporary art across both primary and secondary education. The project’s artist-teacher approach, alongside its strong CPD provision, has created meaningful opportunities for thousands of young people to engage with art in accessible, inclusive, and empowering ways. Particularly impressive is the integration of spoken language development within arts education, helping to address barriers faced by disadvantaged pupils while fostering confidence and cultural engagement. The panel was especially moved by the organisation’s commitment to inclusion in practice, ensuring that all young people, including those from underrepresented backgrounds, can see themselves reflected within contemporary art and creative learning.”
